Brake Lights Not Working

Hi

Can some please help me

My coil light is flashing on a off as I am driving

And my brake light do not work if the coil light does not

Flash on and off the brake light work? :unsure:

I would suspect a faulty brake light switch is at the root of your problem, do a search, theres plenty of posts on the subject.

Since I have owned my 2002 1.9tdi the brake light switch has been defective 3 times (and replaced 3). the most annoying thing about it is when the coil light flash, indicating a fault code I have to pay Edited August 30, 2008 by firefly

Firefly,

my 2001 tdi has been the same with regard brake light switches. Just replace the switch and you'll find that the flashing glow plug light will stop flashing after the ecu has received a number of operations of the brake light switch. No need to get diagnostics done.

I think the switches are better now cos the one fitted now is lasting longer, but I do keep a spare one in the glove compartment!
